Synopsis: 

In India, 158 million people live in slums under extreme insalubrious conditions. Millions of children play surrounded by rubbish, cows, rats and excrements. Garib Nagar slum, in Bandra district (Mumbai) is Rubina's home, a 12-year old girl who aims to become an actress and change the slum into a more clean and habitable place.

Bio Director: 

Iosu López was born in Pamplona and moved to Madrid after graduating from the audiovisual communications program at the University of Navarra. He has worked with new agencies such as TVE, Antena 3, Telecinco, SER, and LaSexta. His autobiographical documentary The American Seam (2009) charts his lifelong dream of traveling from Alaska to Argentina over 10 months and 45,000 kilometers. He has since worked as a freelance news correspondent and has created audiovisual work for various NGOs in Nicaragua, India, and Honduras.

Manuel Fernández was born in Madrid and holds a B.A. in communication studies from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He later studied filmmaking at Australia’s University of Sydney. He has produced commercial work for various advertising agencies as well as programmes for Channel Four and TeleMadrid. His films include the documentary Esperanto: those who love music, love life, the experimental short The Imp of the Perverse, and the short film 31st of April.
