This second week-end of the festival is devoted to filmmakers because they make the festival alive through their films.

A special selection of documentaries from the “Millenium” Collection will be presented at the 18th edition of Sofia International Film Festival (SIFF), which will take place between 6-16-30th March. The two festivals have established a long-standing collaboration and the Millenium Festival will have its own special programme within SIFF for the third time.
Among the selected films are Ion, directed by Olivier Magis, as well as the documentary tale “Trucker and the Fox" by the Iranian director Arash Lahouti, revealing the extraordinary life of the truck driver Mahmoud Kiani Falavarjani – a family man and an eccentric animal lover and artist.
The stories from the four selected films included in the programme are neglected. We rarely speak about such stories, because they make us feel uncomfortable. They are beautiful, but at the same time frightening and tragic. The Millenium programme of the Sofia International Film Fest started yesterday with “The Captain and his pirate” by Andi Wolf – a film showing the story of the German ship "Hansa Stavangar" kidnapped by Somali pirates and held for four months. During this period the captain and the pirates leader become friends despite their fate as enemies.
